Here we go! First wedding of the year was a Faye & Stephen at the newly refurbished Rudding Park, Harrogate, North Yorkshire. The Radcliffe Room has always been an impressive space but I have to say now it’s had some new colour on the walls, new lighting and audio it really looks stunning and brings it in to line with the rest of the hotel. It’s not just the Radcliffe that’s been decorated though, the other rooms have all had similar treatment and the reception area has been painted a lovely grey with new mirrors – I don’t think I’ve shut up about it since to be honest I’ve amazed myself how excited I’ve been about it.
It was great to have our first wedding of the year at a familiar venue, with staff we know (and get on well with) and of course a lovely bride and groom and their respective family and friends.
I checked the weather forecast on the Friday and it was rain in the morning which was due to clear by lunchtime with a bit of sun to follow and a drop in temperatures. Saturday morning arrived and I took a peak out of the window to see it absolutely chucking it down – eeek! But for once they got the forecast bang on and as we arrived at Rudding the sun was out and it was all looking good.
Faye and her bridesmaids were all pretty chilled and Faye was having the last bits of her make-up done by Sarah Aveyard which included what I was told was ‘fairy dust’ – OK, I’m not falling for that one girls but it did photograph quite well
The stunning flowers were arranged by Colette who’s the talented in-house florist at Rudding and the Radcliffe room chairs were dressed by Tahlia.
The attention to detail by all the staff at Rudding and other vendors was obvious as everything looked absolutely perfect and extremely stylish which was clearly exactly how Faye had planned everything to look.
As expected everything ran smooth as clockwork as Faye & Stephen had worked with us by switching the format of the day around slightly to ensure we got the best use of available light (don’t worry, this wasn’t changed on the day, it was all planned months in advance) so after the Civil Ceremony they had a drinks reception with a few group shots and some photo’s around the hotel followed by a blessing in the chapel as the light was starting to disappear. It actually worked perfectly having the blessing a little later as it was a little more atmospheric with the candles in the chapel.
After their wedding breakfast their was a little surprise for Faye as a secret firework display had been arranged by Ferrensby Fireworks (nice to see you all again guys – how cold was it out there?) which then lead nicely into cutting of the cake and first dance.

Old Deanery Wedding Photography – Beth and Jonathan
Beth & Jonathan tied the knot back on August 12th at the Old Deanery in Ripon, North Yorkshire.
They had a beautiful day and their were lots of lovely details for us to capture.
Beth’s dress was a gorgeous number from Jenny Packham, she purchased it from Ava Rose Hamilton in Silsden.
The rest of the wedding party were fitted out with dresses from Monsoon and suits from Moss Bros.
A few family friends were also involved on the day by offering their help with hair, makeup, cakes, flowers, favours and video.
Others popular suppliers on the day included Jo Malone and Agent Provocateur!
To complete their special day, Obscurity Knocks from Bradford got everyone up and rocking with the evening entertainment!

Time for a massive catch up on blogging, it’s going to get a bit busy on these pages over the next few weeks so keep popping back for the updates!
We photographed Julia & Chris’ wedding at The Sun Pavilion back in June, you may have already spotted their video on our blog but here’s a few more images and a bit more detail about their special day.
Julia and her bridesmaids got ready at The Old Swan Hotel, Harrogate and as we arrived we spotted Chris and the guys heading in the direction of a couple of pubs
As you’ll see from all the images here Julia & Chris put a lot of time and effort into their wedding. As The Sun Pavilion is a stunning Art Deco building sitting in Valley Gardens in Harrogate they’d themed their wedding stationery etc in an Art Deco style and all the other bits of detail were simply amazing.
The flowers which were beautiful and in abundance were by the very talented Serendipity Floral Designs the shoes were by Diane Hassall with the great little detail of ‘I Do’ on the soles, the dress was stunning, the sweet bar, everything had been carefully thought through and you could tell, even the bunting was hand made! The week before the wedding whilst going through the final details Julia had us in fits of laughter when she informed us that her pet rabbit had eaten a length of the bunting when she wasn’t looking!
For their evening reception and the first dance they had a superb band called Chequers
What a great day, we really enjoyed working with Julia & Chris and we hope you enjoy looking at their images!

Penny & James were married at St Roberts Church in Pannal, Harrogate and had their reception at Newby Hall Near Ripon. We were really pleased to hear that St Roberts had relaxed their restrictions a little on photography during the service as this was the first of two weddings we had at the church in as many weeks. It really makes such a difference when we can photograph special moments during that part of the day and it’s a great pity that a few ‘over eager’ photographers have created a situation in many churches that prevent us from doing that.
We were really looking forward to the wedding as not only did it have a great couple with a stunning venue but also a few of our previous clients were attending which always makes it lots of fun and they had a special guest at the church (see if you can guess from the photos).
The weather was stunning (if not a little too hot) and I made a point or reminding Penny & James to keep topped up with water as well as Champagne
as we didn’t want anyone collapsing from dehydration.

Gemma & Rob, All Saints Church & Burn Hall, Huby, York
April! Anyone remember April? I do, it’s my birthday in April, we also had our summer in April and Gemma & Robs wedding fell slap bang in the middle of our summer – would you Adam and Eve it?
Gemma & Rob asked us to photograph their wedding back in 2010. We were so chuffed when we knew it was going to be a cracking day as we knew Gemma had been worried about the weather (as most brides do)! We’ve known Gemma & Rob for a few years having filmed Robs brothers wedding way back. It’s always great when you’re heading off to a wedding where you’ll know a few people and you also know they’re all going to be lovely.
The attention to detail was exceptional (we knew it would be) which is always ace as it adds so much to the photography, they’d even made tourist info style signs to direct people to the venue, how cool is that!
Here’s a few photos from the day, I still can’t believe we’re in July – oops.
