The Feversham Arms, Helmsley
The Saturday before Christmas we photographed Hannah and Davids wedding at the Feversham Arms, Helmsley which is a lovely venue with great staff. The weather held off for most of the day which was brilliant but around 6pm the snow started and people were coming into the hotel with tales of closed roads and treacherous conditions, not good as we had a wedding the following day. By the time we left the venue there was about a foot of snow on the car which I swept off with a large sweeping brush borrowed from the kind staff at the hotel (who said we could stay there as a last resort). Anyway, off we went and thankfully the gritters and ploughs had done a half decent job and we made it home in good time, although without our trusty 4×4 we may have turned back.
Anyway, the wedding was great and we had another Bride & Groom willing to brave the elements for some great photos!

The heated outdoor pool added to the atmosphere in this shot, but apparently the pool wasn’t that warm as some of the groomsmen had a dip earlier that morning.

We don’t often get chance to include a snow plough in our wedding shots but when I saw this one coming up the road I had to move fast as I had the wrong lens on, a super quick change of lens in the freezing cold is hard work when you can’t feel your fingers but I got it done just in time!

Saltbox! Couldn’t resist it.

I did have some concerns about getting everyone out around the pool but the Hannah & David insisted it would be OK – thankfully nobody ended up in there.

Now this was a great idea, Hannah & David live in Amsterdam and apparently the Dutch do this thing where they have the seating plan, everyone sits down and starters are served, then between starters and mains they turn over their place cards to reveal another name – so you take your drink and head off to find your new seat. Fab idea if you ask me as it means half the dining room then get chance to speak with somene else during dinner.
